District Leadership Seminar

Following the Bak Maha Ulela on 2nd May, morning (9.30a.m. to 2.00p.m.) there will be the District Leadership Seminar from 3.00p.m. to 5.50p.m.. The purpose of the District Leadership Seminar is to motivate Rotarians in the District to serve Rotary beyond the Club level.
Discussion topics will include:
Leadership opportunities in the District
District meetings/ seminars
International service projects (Sponsor or Host District)
Program electives (RI and TRF)

All Rotarian's interested are welcome. Registration cost is Rs.500/- and Rotarian's who have paid for the Bak Maha Ulela will not be charged extra. Attendance at this Seminar can be counted (if necessary) for the "Special Citation for Individual Rotarians". Please confirm your attendance with Rtn. Rotary District 3220 - Bak Maha Ulela

The Rotary District 3220 - Bak Maha Ulela will be held on 2nd May, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Athugalpura & Kurunegala. It will be a wonderful Rotary Family event near the lake. Rs.500/- per adult/ Rs.300/- for children including games, Avurudhu sweetmeats & lunch (Click below flyer for more details).

Our RI District 3220 is making commendable progress towards achieving the Targets set collectively at the beginning of the Rotary year. In spite of the difficult times faced, "In dreams there are no impossibilities" and together we can "Make Dreams Real".

Having started with 1,643 Members, Sri Lanka moves up a rank from 49 to 48 during this Rotary year and stands to gain 2 more ranks to be positioned as 46 from amongst the 210 Countries & Geographic Regions listed in the Rotary World. Net gain of 3 Ranks is possible during 2008-9. Total 33,364 Clubs & 1,223,780 Members Worldwide.

Best Cooperative Projects Award

Nomination Forms for the Best Cooperative Projects Award was received from 7 Rotary Clubs - Battaramulla, Capital City, Colombo Central, Kandy, Kandy Metropolitan, Kolonnawa & Moratuwa. RI Recognition for the Best Cooperative Projects will be for a maximum of 5 Clubs in RI District 3220.

Rotaractor's to Raise Funds to Eradicate Polio

Nearly 10 Rotaract Clubs have come together to raise funds for the Rotary Polio Eradication effort. They have obtained the Premier Night (7.00p.m.) Show of Slumdog Millionaire.

Cost of a ticket: Rs.500/- . Proceeds towards the eradication of Polio from the "Face of the Earth". Be there at the Majestic City Cinema with your Family on 17th April @ 7.00p.m. (Click on flyer)

District Simplified Grants Awarded

The below mentioned District Simplified Grant Applications submitted by the Rotary Clubs have been successful. The funds will be made available this week for immediate project implementation. NOTE: All purchase receipts/bills & project photos must be submitted together with the Final Report to be sent to TRF of RI. The total DSG of Rs.734,958/- awarded for 2008-09 will translate into over Rs.1.2Mil worth of service projects benefiting 16 needy communities.
Grant of Rs.50,000/- each:
Bandarawela, Batticaloa, Col. Centennial, Col. Central, Col. South, Galupura, Kandy, Katugastota, Kolonnawa and Nikaweratiya.
Grant of Rs.40,000/- each:
Col. Mid City, Kurunegala, Moratuwa, Polgahawela and Trincomalee.
Grant of Rs.34,958/- to Panduwasnuwara.

Trust your Club has sent the 2nd Half/ January Semi Annual Report (SAR) together with the copy of the payment receipt to the RI Asia Office. If not, kindly do so immediately and avoid Club suspension. The below is payable for each Active Member (current Exchange Rate is US$ 1.00 = SL Rs.114/-):
Annual RI Per Capita Dues - US$48.00 (US$24.00 payable half yearly)
Subscription to The Rotarian - US$24.00 (US$2.00 x 6 per half year)
