October 2007 - Vocational Service Month : DGE begins promoting dates of training meetings to incoming club officers

November - Rotary Foundation Month : Club Officers’ Kits (includes the Club President’s Manual, the Club Secretary’s Manual, and the Club Committee Manuals) sent to DGE for distribution to club presidents-elect. Club presidents-elect should then distribute the contents of the kit to incoming club secretaries and committee chairs. Each manual includes discussion questions

December - Family Month : DGE attends GETS. District team training materials sent to DGE for distribution to assistant governors and district committee chairs before the district team training seminar. District committee chairs should ensure that members of their committee have the necessary training materials. The Assistant Governor’s Training Manual and District Committee Manual include discussion questions

January 2008 - Rotary Awareness Month : DGE attends Int'l Assembly

February - World Understanding Month : Theme materials and RI information sent to district governors-elect for distribution at presidents-elect training seminars. District team training seminar takes place on 23rd & 24th Feb., 2008 for assistant governors and district committees

March - Literacy Month : Presidents-elect Training Seminars take place (28th - 30th March, 2008). Presidents-elect should develop preliminary goals using the Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs (found in the Club President’s Manual)

April - Magazine Month : Incoming club leadership teams further develop goals using Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs

May 2008 - District assembly takes place on 4th or 11th May, 2008

June - Rotary Fellowships Month

18th Rotary District Assembly - 4th May, 2008

The 18th Rotary District Assembly is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 4th May, 2008 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Colombo Regency & Mount Lavinia. Purpose of the District Assembly (an annual Club Leaders training meeting) is to better prepare and train the incoming Club leaders. It also provides an opportunity for the District Governor Elect, incoming AGs & District Committees the opportunity to motivate Club Leadership Teams & build their working relationship and ensure a successful Rotary year 2008-9.

RI - Club Officers' Kit

As discussed at the Pres. Elect & Sec. Elect meeting held on 1st Dec., it is important that you share the Club Officers' Kit with your Club Team members. Immediately give the Sec. Elect the Club Secretary's Manual & photo copy the Club Treasurer Section from this and give it to your Treasurer Elect. Also provide your selected Club Committee Chairman with the Club Committee Manuals so that they could better prepare a plan of action. Convene a meeting of your Board members and the 5 committee chairman selected by you within 1 week of your Club AGM (to be held before 31st Dec., 2007). *2 Dec., 2007

Pre - President's Elect Training Seminar

All Presidents Elect interested should attend one of the two Pre-PETS scheduled in Colombo/ Kandy. Cost Rs.600/-. Smart casual.
8th March, 2008 - Galle Face Hotel, Colombo (3.00p.m.-6.30p.m.) organised by the RC of Capital City or 9th March, 2008 - Hotel Tourmaline/Topaz, Kandy (10.30a.m.-3.00p.m.) organised by the RC of Kandy. Participate and better prepare for PETS. 1/31/08

The District Committee is being finalised. I invite all committed and hardworking Rotarians to share their ideas, time & talent.
